Algae destruction: By slowly passing the single celled algae that cause green water in front of UVC light, the algae cells are damaged by the light and die.

Mechanical Filtration: Specially developed, profiled filter sponge pads will trap algae clumps plus other large particles and are easily rinsed for regular maintenance.

Biological Purification: After mechanical filtration, the pond water passes through Fish Mate SUPRA Biological Filter Medium, possessing over 100 times the biological surface area of conventional plastic media. The specific structure of SUPRA enables rapid growth of aerobic bacteria resulting in removal of lethal ammonia and nitrite.

    Firestone EPDM Pond Liner Features at a Glance:
  • Aquatic safe: They are made from a highly stable material that is formulated for safety when exposed to fish and plant life in a decorative pond.

  • Flexibility - High Elongation: Firestone EPDM pond liners stay flexible in temperatures from -40° Fahrenheit to 175° Fahrenheit making it easy to install year round. Unlike other liner materials, it does not contain plasticizers that could make it become brittle with age and cause cracks or splits in the material, threatening aquatic life.

  • Versatility: EPDM's flexibility provides more versatility in the pond design. The Science of Pond Liners

Your choice of a pond liner is one of the first and most important decisions you will make. We offer only the EPDM liners because they are the BEST quality and longest lasting. Who wants to dig a hole and then have a pond that leaks as the liner degrades over time?

PVC and HDPE pond liners are common. They are not desirable for cold climates due to their brittle nature, and direct sunlight can damage them.

Butyl Rubber liners are very thick and heavy, though usually durable. However, they can be toxic to some animals and are not suitable for Koi fish.

Fiberglass liners are pre-formed, expensive to ship, give no flexibility in design and look often artificial.

Concrete ponds tend to grow more algae. They are also laborious, expensive, and they sometimes crack in cold climates. And you can't easily change your landscape later.

Measuring for a pond liner:
Pond liner width (at widest part) + 2* Pond Depth (at deepest part) +6"
ie: Width: 12 ft wide x 24" deep pond: 144in + (2*24in) +6in=198in

The versatile range of sizes works for most pond volumes and offers the option of installation above or below ground level.

The 2000, 3000, 6000 and 9000 gallon models are available featuring Powerclenz - the patented automatic cleaning device, which enables the pond filters to be cleaned with just the twist of a knob (details below).

Ease of Pond Filter Cleaning

The patented Powerclenz automatic cleaning is unique in that by twisting a knob, the filter automatically cleans itself. Simply turn the tap to position "Clean", and the foam will be squeezed by up to one thousand pounds force through water pressure, forcing out pond sludge.
