POLYOX Organic Material Oxidizer/Water Conditioner/Algae Controller provides superior water quality and assists in preventing growth of various cyanobacteria (commonly called red or blue green slime algae) by simply removing their food source.
Kent Marine Kent Marine Polyox

It will oxidize leftover food and dissolved and suspended organic matter. This will increase the water quality and provide a better environment for your fish and invertebrates! Use when water quality suffers due to heavy bio-loading.

  • Instantly begins to oxidize dissolved and suspended organics
  • Assists in preventing red or blue-green slime algae
  • Returns water to a natural state!
  • For Fresh & Marine Systems, fish-only and reef tanks
  • Does not contain any algaecide.
  • 8oz treats up to 11000gal

Considerations for use:
Poly Ox must not be used on systems less than 30 days old or immediately after major water changes (>30%). There must be enough organic matter either dissolved or suspended in the water to necessitate treatment. Do not use with chelated copper medications particularly Copper Power brand!

The marine method is completely safe for invertebrates and marine fish. Red velvet and other true algae will not be affected by Poly•Ox. Continue running skimmers. Do not use with ozone, and wait 1 week after ozone use to apply. If you have a redox meter, do not exceed 460 mv! It is recommended that you suspend carbon or resin filtration during use. A large partial water change and a fresh charge of Kent Marine Reef Carbon is recommended at the termination of treatment. After carbon use, apply the appropriate Kent Essential trace mineral for your system.

Directions:
First Read Considerations for use below! Freshwater: Add one dose only at 1 teaspoon (1 capful or 5 ml) to 4 teaspoons per 10 gallons (40 liters) of system capacity depending on bio-load. Can be repeated at 7 day intervals. Marine: (reefs and fish-only systems): Add one dose in the morning and one dose in the evening of 3 drops (use an eye dropper) per 10 gallons (40 liters) of system capacity for up to 10 days [this is equivalent to 1/4 teaspoon (1/4 capful or 1.25 ml) in a 60 gallon tank, twice a day]. Carefully observe inhabitants each time. If invertebrates close up at all, then half the dosage and use longer if necessary. DO NOT EVER OVERDOSE! Product can be squirted, slowly, on affected areas using a plastic syringe, and this is sometimes faster and more effective. This method also doses the entire tank, as well. Do not use again until time to dose again and do not exceed the above recommended dosages overall.

Self-start siphon makes this gravel vac easy to use
Ultra Self-start Gravel Vacs
Ultra Gravel with self-start feature is quick and easy. New wide-mouth nozzle also increases surface coverage by about 20% enabling faster, more efficient cleaning with less water used.

Also includes new Ultra Hose Clip for keeping the out-end of your vac hose conveniently inside the bucket. No more siphon water running all over the floor.

5 sizes for any depth of tank.

The Science of Water Changes

Water changes help to remove unwanted and often toxic biological by-products from your aquarium water. Excess debris, fish waste, uneaten food, and decomposed plant matter turn into ammonia, then nitrite, then nitrates. These are bad for fish and also encourage algae blooms. Twenty-five percent water changes should be performed at least once a month in order to maintain a healthy aquatic environment.

Gravel vacuums are designed to separate debris from gravel to "clean the gravel" as you perform your routine water changes. See:Learn About Aquarium Filtration

GREEN is the new CLEAN! The first biological inhibitor of green water algae scientifically proven to work!
Pondcare Microbial Algae Clean

GREEN is great for the environment, but you don't want your pond to turn green.

Microbial Algae Clean is the first bacterial algaecide registered with the EPA. The patented bacteria contained in PondCare Microbial Algae Clean are a biological inhibitor of green water, and they help to establish and maintain a clean pond, free of algae.

The EPA has deemed it safe! Microbial Algae Clean has no negative effects associated with bacteria when in contact with freshwater fish, aquatic invertebrates, honey bees and avian animals.

Extensive scientific testing has deemed it effective!

Pond owners' number one problem has been algae of various types. Microbial Algae Clean contains patented bacteria to control "green water" or free floating algae in ponds with live fish and plants.:
  • Eliminates troublesome organic sludge and debris
  • Promotes a cleaner pond environment
  • Improves dissolved oxygen levels
  • Helps establish and maintain the biological filter
  • Reduces noxious odors from the pond.
  • Will not harm live plants or fish

If high levels of algae exist, be prepared to siphon out dead filamentous algae (see Ultivac ). It is also highly recommended that you combine Pondcare Algaefix with Liquid EcoFix or powdered Pond Zyme to quickly break down the accumulated dead algae and debris that results from algae die-off. High quantities of dead algae can be damaging if not removed and broken down quickly to prevent toxic ammonia build-up.

To use: Add 1 teaspoonful of PondCare Microbial Algae Clean for every 50 gallons of pond/ fountain water (1/4 cup per 600 gallons). Repeat dose every 3 days for first 2 weeks then add once a week to maintain control of Green water algae (Chlorella).

Over the four week period the concentration of algae was reduced in ponds treated with Microbial Algae clean and the competitor microbial pond clarifier while the untreated algae concentration remained constant. The reduction of algae, however, was much greater in the Microbial Algae clean treatments. Microbial Algae Clean reduced algae growth by 90.5 %. The competitor microbial pond clarifier reduced algae growth by 20%

Measure calcium levels and maintain a healthy reef aquarium.
(ca2+) Calcium Test Kit For Saltwater Aquariums
Calcium is one of the most important elements in a reef aquarium. Reef invertebrates such as corals, crustaceans, mollusks and even some types of encrusting algae need calcium to grow and remain healthy. Over time, calcium levels drop as invertebrates use calcium in aquarium water. This kit allows you to easily and accurately measure calcium levels and maintain a healthy reef aquarium.
  • Measures calcium levels as low as 20mg/L
  • Uses titration method, with easy to see color change for precise measurement.
  • For use in reef aquariums

Lowers the pH of pond water without promoting algae growth.
Ph Down & Ph Up Adjuster For Ponds - Aquarium Pharmaceuticals
    Contains no algae-promoting phosphate.

pH UP slowly raises the pH of pond water (making it more alkaline) without harming delicate pond fish or aquatic plants. Slowly neutralizes acid substances that cause low pH (pH of pond water is affected by mineral leaching, soil runoff & decomposing waste). A low pH can stress pond fish & suppress the activity of the biological filter.

pH DOWN slowly lowers the pH of pond water (making it more acidic) without harming delicate pond fish or aquatic plants. Slowly neutralizes alkaline substances that cause high pH. A high pH limits the ability of aquatic plants to absorb necessary nutrients.

  • Directions for pH UP: 2 teasponful (5 ml) per 50 US Gallons. 16 oz treats approx 2400 US Gallons

For super cleaning your aquarium and water polishing, the Diatom filter is a high-speed canister designed to filter aquarium water to an extremely pure state, without disturbing the natural bacteria levels. It is very effective at getting rid of parasites and green water as well as dangerous bacteria. ...
    Vortex Diatom Filter

It uses a unique diatom powder to filter particles as small as one half - one diatom in size. Even some parasites and bacteria are large enough to be trapped and pulled out of the water by a diatom filter. It is a wonderful "green water" cleaner, as free-floating algae is too large to avoid the filter trap.,

Diatom Filters remove many free-swimming infective stages of various parasites from the tank water before they can attach to their hosts, and when the attached adult parasites on the fish die, the fish are eventually left parasite-free. Because many free-floating bacterias are also removed from the tank, wounded fish often heal more quickly (absent the bacterias that cause infections)

After parasites and toxic algae problems have been eliminated, it is a good idea to schedule diatom filtration on a weekly basis or even continuously for a problem tank.

Used properly, your Diatom filter will eliminate the need to "tear down" your aquarium to clean.

Model D-1 diatom filter is for most routine cleaning jobs. Filters over 250 GPH. Clears a 10 gallon tank micron free in 12 minutes.

The Diatom XL filter, which filters at up to 300 GPH (and measures 18" high by 7.5" wide at the base), is the highest speed aquarium diatom filter on the market (designed for continuous operation).

      Vortex Diatom Filter Features:
    • Electrical on-off switch and self priming motor
    • 100% filtration of water that passes through the pump - no hidden "by-pass holes"
    • Quiet operation. Motor shaft is connected directly to the impeller (no slipping magnetic drive or squealing belts)
    • Thermally protected motor. Self-contained and designed for continuous operation
    • Adjustable and directional flow
    • Backwashes clean without taking the filter apart. Protected against gravel jam of the impeller
    • Easily recharged with filter media - Diatom filter powder, superchar or water softener may be added while the filter is running.
    • Positively does not change pH
    • New unbreakable chamber base stand and jar!
    • Contains starter pack of diatom powder

Two small windows on the face of the valve handle (which are engraved to show "filter" or "charge mode") make it easy to tell if you are filtering your tank or simply re-coating the bag and filtering the water in the filter.

No-kink tubing allows you the "freedom" to move your filter freely from tank to tank without losing your siphon and without having to re-coat your filter layer. Using the P-29 Recharge Valve also allows you to adjust the water flow from full to slight filtration if so desired.Easier siphon starting permits infinitely adjustable water flow. P-29 allows you to move filter from one tank to another without losing siphon. 30 second filter recharge (without kinking hose).

Transform the ProFlex into three completely different setups to suit your needs: a traditional wet/dry trickle filter, as a Berlin style, or a Refugium sump filtration system.
Aqueon Proflex Modular Sump / Wet / Dry Filter System
It's as easy as sliding the adjustable water height wall up or down, removing the thumb screws on a removable baffle wall, sliding in the filter pad and trickle do

Unlike competitors' sumps, ProFlex offers very Quiet Filtration As water enters the ProFlex, it flows through a revolutionary bubble diffuser chamber where bubbles are expelled, significantly reducing noise.

Effective particulate filtration. After water flows through the bubble chamber, it flows through two 200 micron filter socks to remove large particulates.

All ProFlex models are manufactured using extremely durable materials, and include a lifetime warranty against leaks.

The ProFlex sump filtration unit comes in four sizes to accommodate any medium to large-sized aquarium up to 210 gallons.
    • Sump 1: 55 gallons
    • Sump 2: 75 gallons
    • Sump 3: 100 gallons
    • Sump 4: 200 gallons
Keeping Things Flexible - 3 Easy Ways To Create Sump Styles:
    • Refugium - Add a refugium light to create a thriving refugium for your reef aquarium. Live rock and certain plants/algae help control excess nutrients that may hinder the growth of corals in the main aquarium.
    • Wet/Dry- Using the BioMedia Accessory Pack, turn the ProFlex into a traditional wet/dry trickle filter. Great for use in freshwater and fish-only saltwater applications to provide advanced biological filtration for a heavy fish load.
    • Berlin - Ideal for reef applications where utilization of a large protein skimmer is imperative. The expansive sump chambers allow for placement of a large protein skimmer and a constant water level.

Vacuums aquarium gravel right down the drain.
    Aqueon Water Changers
The Aqueon Aquarium Water Changer was developed to make routine water changes and vacuuming gravel easy and efficient for any level aquarist. Complete water flow control prevents spillage, facilitates more complete, thorough cleaning and eliminates the need for lifting heavy buckets of water. Simply attach the water flow assembly to the faucet using the included multi-connection faucet adaptor and turn on the faucet.

While vacuuming gravel, the key to thorough cleaning is water flow. Just the right amount of water flow will meticulously agitate the gravel to remove loose dirt while reducing the amount of water that dispenses into the sink. The easy-grip molded handle on the gravel tube includes a built-in on/off valve for total water flow control at your finger tips. The same valve on the sink adjustment can be adjusted to reduce splashing of dirty water in the sink.

      Aqueon Gravel Vacuum Includes:

Designed to provide natural water chemistry to African cichlids and other rift lake fishes without significantly raising pH.
    A F Cichlid, Cichlid Chemistry

Liquid Cichlid Chemistry is a specially formulated mixture of carbonates, sulfates, and chlorides of sodium, magnesium, calcium and potassium with all necessary minor and trace minerals to approximate Rift Lake water chemistry. Compatible with and designed for use with A F Cichlid Buffer for pH control and A F Cichlid Rift Lake Trace Elements. Contains no phosphates, nitrates, silicates or organics to pollute the system. (Note: competing products usually contain very high levels of silicates which encourage diatom (algae) growth on the tank walls! This product does not!) A F Cichlid Chemistry will also benefit most American cichlids whose waters are hard and have high pH's above 7.8!

Considerations for use: For maximum results, start with water prepared by reverse osmosis. Dechlorinated tap water can also be used. If using tap water, first measure TDS (total dissolved solids) or GH (general hardness). Using this product, adjust the hardness to desired value for the type of fish you are keeping. This is recommended to be 350 to 400 ppm TDS or 12 o to 14 o dGH (Gesamthaerte or German degrees of general hardness) for Tanganyika, 200 ppm TDS or 7o dGH for Malawi, and 150 ppm TDS or 5o dGH for Victoria conditions. A good rule of thumb is 1 to 4 teaspoons (6 to 24 grams) of A F Cichlid Chemistry per 10 gallons (38 l) for initial tank setup or for water changes, depending on initial hardness and desired value. If possible, use plain R/O water for additions for water lost to evaporation, otherwise use plain dechlorinated tap water (no A F Cichlid Chemistry added). Always mix A F Cichlid Chemistry outside the tank. Make changes slowly. Important: Measure alkalinity and pH after addition of A F Cichlid Chemistry, then use Kent A F Cichlid Buffer to adjust alkalinity and pH as directed.

Directions: First read the considerations for use section. Use 1 to 4 teaspoons (6 to 24 grams) of A F Cichlid Chemistry per 10 gallons (38 l) for initial tank setup or for water changes, depending on initial hardness and desired value. Next use A F Cichlid Buffer to adjust pH and alkalinity to the proper value.

Contents: Carbonates, sulfates, and chlorides of sodium, magnesium, calcium and potassium with all necessary minor and trace minerals.

Kent Coral-Vite is the premium hard & soft coral vitamin & mineral supplement.
    Kent Marine Coral-vite

It provides exotic trace minerals and complex nutrients for health and vigor and to stimulate growth in corals, anemones, gorgonians, and desirable marine algae. It contains no detrimental heavy metals, gluconates or other sugars, phosphates, nitrates, or silicates. Coral-Vite does not promote undesirable algae growth. Our goal is to provide SLR or Sustained Long-term Results. To this end, Coral-Vite makes the lightest possible use of EDTA and preservatives. These ingredients are necessary, however, to make sure you get a fresh, potent product.

    • Hard & soft coral vitamin and mineral supplement
    • Designed For Miniature Reef Marine Aquariums
    • Phosphate, Nitrate & Silicate Free
    • Contains no gluconates, or other sugars!
    • 8oz treats up to 2400gal

Considerations for use: For optimum results, use water prepared by reverse osmosis (particularly in mini-reefs). However, tap water treated with Chlorinex or Ammonia Detox will work.

Kent Coral-Vite will supply needed rubidium, lithium, barium and other important minerals as well as essential vitamins to the reef. Coral-Vite and Essential Elements are designed to work together in a reef environment.

Although Coral-Vite contains strontium and calcium, you should use separate additives for these to achieve a synergistic effect. Tanks with large numbers of soft corals, crustaceans or macro algae will require the Concentrated Iodine or Iron supplements as well. Use Kent Kalkwasser Mix, Concentrated Liquid Calcium, or Turbo-Calcium to supply needed calcium. Use Strontium and Molybdenum or Turbo-Strontium to provide heavy amounts of strontium.

Note: Live corals also require strong lighting, with proper spectrum and immaculately clean systems. Regular water changes are encouraged. Coral-Vite is safe for use with or without ozone and will provide excellent results in either case. More frequent addition may be required due to ozone use.

Directions: Add 1 to 2 teaspoons per 50 gallons of tank capacity every week depending on animal load (1 capful, or 5 ml = 1 teaspoon). Do not dose from the same container as Kalkwasser, but use simultaneously and add directly to tank or sump. Complements Kent Marine Essential Elements.

    • For Reef & Fish Only Marine Aquariums
    • Phosphate, Nitrate & Silicate Free
    • Contains no gluconates, or other sugars!
    • 8oz treats 2400gal

Considerations for use: The amount of Essential Elements needed depends on the amount of water changed regularly. If you do frequent water changes, then add Essential Elements every 2 weeks. If you do not, then add weekly.

For mini-reefs, the amount of calcium, strontium and iodine are not sufficient to supply their heavy use by living corals and other invertebrates. Use Kent Kalkwasser Mix, Concentrated Liquid Calcium, or Turbo-Calcium to supply needed calcium. Use Strontium and Molybdenum or Turbo-Strontium to provide heavy amounts of strontium. Kent Coral-Vite will supply rubidium, lithium, barium and other important minerals as well as essential vitamins to the reef. Coral-Vite and Essential Elements are designed to work together in a reef environment.

Use this product regularly to maintain trace mineral levels which will be used by fish and algae and removed by carbon, resin, and pad filtration.

Directions: Add 1 teaspoon (1 capful or 5 ml) per 50 gallons every 1 to 2 weeks, depending on the amount of water changes done. Also add immediately after carbon use. Do not dose with Kalkwasser, add directly to tank or sump.

Removes Nitrates and prolongs the time allowed between water changes by keeping nitrates low!
    Kent Marine Nitrate Sponge

Kent Marine Nitrate Sponge is a granular zeolitic medium which works by two methods.

    1. It slowly directly adsorbs small amounts of ammonia that are released by fish and natural processes, and
    2. it fosters anaerobic bacterial denitrification due to its physical porous structure.

This denitrification slowly reduces nitrate levels in the aquarium. It also works well in freshwater tanks or tap water to remove toxic ammonia directly!

Considerations for use: Nitrates are best brought down initially with large water changes with a low nitrate salt, such as Kent Sea Salt. Deionization or reverse osmosis filtration of tap water nitrates will also help if your tap water contains significant levels of nitrates. Each treatment of Nitrate Sponge will reduce nitrates by about 20 ppm (total nitrates) for the stated size. Not overfeeding the tank, good maintenance practices, regularly vacuuming of detritus, regular use of Kent Marine Reef Carbon, and regular changing of filter floss are critical to nitrate control and water changes are absolutely necessary! Products which contain gluconates, other sugars and heavy organic chemicals should be avoided since they will foster undesirable growth of cyanobacteria.

Phosphates and silicates are also nutrients or fertilizers which, given proper lighting and other nutrients, will promote rapid growth of undesirable algae, diatoms and cyanobacteria also. Kent Marine Phosphate Sponge can be used simultaneously with the Nitrate Sponge to lower the levels of these fertilizers and help reduce growth of these unsightly nuisances.

Anaerobic Denitrator: If you have a bad nitrate problem, consider purchasing a filter housing in which to place the Nitrate Sponge. Fill this housing with aquarium water and let stand totally closed, with no water movement for 3 weeks. This will give the bacteria time to multiply and populate the Nitrate Sponge. Tap your main pressure line from your aquarium pump with small airline tubing and a small air valve. Adjust the valve to allow one drop per second to flow out of the filter back into your sump. This unit requires no feeding and therefore cannot produce deadly hydrogen sulfide gas as other systems might.

Kent Phytoplex is a highly concentrated complex of aqua cultured, naturally occurring marine phytoplankton
    Kent Marine Phytoplex

It contains Nannochloropsis, Tetraselmis and Isochrysis sp. Tahitian ranging in size from 2 to 15 microns. Phytoplex provides necessary proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids for live hard & soft corals, tube worms, clams and other invertebrates

It is rich in the omega-3 fatty acids, DHA and EPA and is useful in feeding rotifers and other plankton and in raising larval fish. Phytoplex is grown in cold saltwater under laboratory conditions. It contains over 3 billion cells per capful and is typically about 15 times as concentrated as competing live cultures, meaning that one 8 oz. bottle of Phytoplex has more phytoplankton cells than 1gallon of the competition. It is free of viruses, toxins and heavy metals which can be a problem when using live algae cultures, cultured in outdoor ponds. Phytoplex contains Nannochloropsis, a small green flagellate and Tetraselmis, a large green flagellate both containing high EPA lipid levels as well as high protein contents.

It also contains Tahitian Isochrysis, a small yellow flagellate which is rich in protein, carbohydrates and DHA lipids. Phytoplex is very useful in SPS and soft coral propagation as well as overall reef maintenance.

Directions-Important: Invertebrate foods should be used sparingly in a marine aquarium, to prevent loss of water quality! Add 1 to 2 teaspoons per 50 gallons (1 capful from 8 or 16 oz. bottle, or 5 ml = 1 teaspoon) in an area of high water flow. Feed daily or several times weekly, depending on animal load.

Target Method: Individual animals may be targeted with this product and this is the most efficient method. It also causes less pollution in the aquarium. To do this, purchase a plastic syringe. Fill the syringe with Kent Phytoplex and dispense, as necessary where the product will flow over the animal. Do not touch the animal with the syringe. Do not contaminate this product with aquarium water by inserting syringe into this container!

Considerations for use: For SPS or soft coral propagation, Kent Phytoplex can be used daily. For best results, use Coral Accel simultaneously. Keep a close watch on water quality and do not overfeed! Feed Micro•Vert once weekly in lieu of Coral Accel on that day.

Live corals require strong lighting, with proper spectrum and strong water movement in a well established aquarium.

    Kent Marine Proclear Marine Clarifier

Kent Pro Clear is completely safe for all marine fish and invertebrates. Pro Clear uses a blend of high tech polymers that will safely flocculate any algae, dirt, bacteria or other cloudy water causing particles. Contains no phosphates, nitrates, or silicates to cause undesirable algae or slime growths. Not an algaecide. 100% biodegradable.

Precautions: Do not use on freshwater systems.

    • Produces & maintains crystal clear water
    • Clears unsightly cloudy, milky water
    • Aids filtration & reduces parasite numbers!
    • Safe for all species of marine fish & invertebrates
    • Contains no algaecides, phosphates, nitrates, or silicates
    • 8oz treats 2400gal

    Considerations for Use:
For best results, use a fine filter floss or pad filter and force water through it. Dirt, cloudiness causing particles and algae will collect on this filter and can be discarded.

If the tank is extremely cloudy, you can double the dose. Do not use more than two doses per week.

If the tank is heavily loaded with fish and plants and has not had proper water changes, use Kent Poly Ox first, to lower the organic loading in the system. Then, wait one day before using this product.

    Directions:
Dilute one drop per gallon of aquarium capacity or one teaspoon (capful or 5 ml) per 50 gallons (190 liters) of aquarium capacity in cup of water and evenly disperse around the aquarium. Precipitated particles should be removed by a properly working mechanical filter and fine filtering medium, such as filter floss, or siphoned out. Allow 8 hours before siphoning. Repeat in 24 hours, if necessary.

Works in fresh and saltwater aquariums or ponds to bring about 1.0 ppm of phosphate or silicates down to less than .05 ppm in a 120 gallon tank for every dry quart of medium.

For silicate to be removed, phosphates must first be removed. Beads are cracked to expose more surface area and increase efficiency! This product will not release soluble aluminum compounds into your aquarium, causing negative reactions from your inverts Will also absorb moisture for use as an air dryer for ozone, and can be renewed over and over in moisture removal service!

    • Removes Phosphates & Silicates
    • Helps reduce hair algae, diatoms, cyanobacteria and other unsightly, undesirable algae growth
    • Highly effient!
    • 1qt treats a 120gal tank

Considerations for Use: Phosphates and silicates are nutrients or fertilizers which, given proper lighting and other nutrients, will promote rapid growth of undesirable algae, diatoms and cyanobacteria. When used as directed, Phosphate Sponge will lower the levels of these fertilizers to help reduce growth of these unsightly nuisances. Successive replacement of charges of Phosphate Sponge may encourage a die off of hair algae!

Renewal: For phosphate removal, renewal may or may not be possible, depending on conditions of use. At best, product may be renewed two times, depending on circumstances of use, and capacity will be much lower each time. To renew, spread 1/4" thick on a baking pan. Place in a 450 degree oven for one hour. Let cool. Rinse with fresh water and re-use. When reusing, leave for 8 hours, maximum. Do not use pan for food.

    Directions:
Rinse with fresh water (preferably reverse osmosis or deionized water) WARNING: PRODUCT MAY GET VERY HOT THE FIRST TIME IT IS WET! Use rubber gloves and/or place in a plastic container while rinsing! Place in a large mesh bag (300-800 micron) or a canister filter, directly in the water flow. Make sure water flows through the material and not just around it. Leave for 8 hours to 2 days maximum (as with any phosphate adsorber, phosphates can be re-released into the system if initial charge is left in the system continuously. If you want to leave in the system to keep phosphates low or to remove silicates, replace initial charge with brand new, and change on a regular basis.) For silicate removal, phosphate must first be removed, then a new charge of Phosphate Sponge must be left in the system for several days.

REEF CARBON removes organic pollutants, stains, and entrained toxic gases in marine and freshwater aquariums or ponds.
    Kent Marine Reef Carbon

Contains the finest pelletized activated bituminous coal based carbon. Out performs any carbon especially coconut shell!

    • Low Ash -- suitable for sensitive species such as Discus
    • Large pore size
    • Highly activated -- Economical -- use less for same results
    • Will not release phosphates nor promote undesirable algae growth
    • Will not clog easily
    • 1qt treats 400gal

    Directions:
Reef Carbon is dusty. This is a necessary characteristic of the finest carbons and is a small price to pay for a carbon that is so active, low in phosphates, and ash, so rinse well in cold running tap water. This will take some effort. IN THE AQUARIUM: Place in a polyester bag or filter chamber and position for maximum water flow through the carbon. IMPORTANT: You can use as any other carbon, but best results will be obtained by using any carbon for only 3 days per month or so. (This is because any carbon will continue to remove trace elements long after it is totally plugged with organics.) Use only enough to remove the color from the water.
